Automotive Spray Booth Cleaning
Gratings During the production process the body shell of a car, van or truck is transported through a series of dips and paint spray areas. Depending upon the level of production the paint may be applied manually or by robot. In both cases the over spray is usually removed from the booth by powerful fans which pull the vapour down through a set of gratings and into a water wash system. The paint builds up on these gratings and reduces the air flow thus making the extraction process less effective. A build up of debris also increases the chance of contamination of the body shell and costly rework.
Body Shell Carriers (Dollies) The body shell carrier is a prime source of contamination as it is constantly being baked and having further payers of paint applied. After successive baking this becomes brittle and can cause dust.
Paint is removed from the gratings either in situ by using a rotary grating cleaner similar to the one shown, or outside the booth in a separate conveyor cleaning system.
